DOMINO SURVIVES ! BURNSIDE DIES !
Glad to hear that Fats Domino survived the flood . Fats decided to ride the storm out in his modest 9th Ward home , he was eventually rescued by boat and ushered to safety . It's not often that a multi-million selling artist decides to live out his life on the "wrong" side of the tracks , I have the utmost respect for the man and his music and I'm so happy to know that he's still with us !
Sadly...blues man R.L. Burnside did survive the weather but did not survive old age and hard living , he died today in Memphis . Though he was not a house hold name he was an amazing artist who has recently become popular with a new generation of blues fans thanks to the fine folks at Fat Possum Records who have been doing their best to promote his music and catalog . Peace Out R.L.,We'll miss you and your larger than life music and life style .
It's heart breaking to read and hear the other headlines from the South , the people , the culture ... what a tragic loss of life and heritage . God bless us all.
I hope that our country will go the extra mile in the future to protect our people and our cultural heritage from such destruction .
Off to rehearse with The Hope .
Morning Rotation :

Dr. John

I, for once, am without words.
NOLA was my Mistress... let us hope the human cost is much less than the numbers being pontificated.
The cultural loss is immeasurable, and I wish I had a case of Abita to wash these images away, if only for a while.
On Rotation:
New Orleans Jazz Vipers
Cowboy Junkies

Chimp/Bitch Boy , Yes , I also have a hard time knowing how and where to begin to express my thoughts , this is something of epic proportions (sp? , it's 2:45AM , I've had a couple) anyway , words ( especially my own) can't begin to describe the impact this has had on my psyche ....
Did this actually happen within our borders ? If so , what have we learned ?
Please inform !
You seem to have the insight of an "old soul"
I'll Wait ,
Mark
Maybe we can find some Abita someplace and talk this one through together..?
I'm waiting for some actual information before coming to any kind of guess about the big picture here... as opposed to the talking heads, the ongoing loops of undated images, and the sidebars of finger pointing (and the latter, of couse, is being fed by the media in search of more 'excitement' for revenue).
